Installing DB2 9.5 x64 on Ubuntu 9.10... um on second thought 9.04

Ok so I posted some steps to get DB2 installed and working on 8.10 a few years ago now… so I am trying to migrate to the current milenium and bring my Ubuntu and DB2 versions up to speed to boot.

This one is making me pull my hair out though…. namely because of some confusion on how dynamic load libraries work in Linux and my inability to figure it out on my own.So the rub is that libstdc++5 has been removed from Karmic because the community no longer wants to support it, it breaks some new stuff they want to add but some old stuff breaks without it. It's a trade off, these are made with lots of packages in every release, but like every other winey baby on the Ubuntu forums I don't care until I care, and you can read the list of complaints [here](https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/ia32-libs/+bug/431091) if you want to, although at some level I know these are the same people yelling at their son/daughters volunteer peewee soccer ref, needless to say I don't think too highly of some of these complainers.

Here are the v8.1 instructions I am working off of. :)
